Bridging Theory & Practice
A Visual Portfolio
This section provides a visual record of the key milestones and materials I developed for the JLC Scholarship Program in tandem with my graduate coursework.
Organized by class, each part pairs the concepts and skills I learned with the scholarship initiatives I led at the same time. Together, these examples show how I put theory into practice to drive meaningful change. Starting in Spring 2024 through Summer 2025, this guide showcases how my studies informed and strengthened my efforts to modernize, expand, and sustain a program designed to empower women returning to education.

Foundations in Leadership

In this paper, I reflected on my work as a career coach and how it’s shaped my understanding of practical, adaptive leadership. I support clients, especially women of color by guiding them through systemic barriers and building personalized career strategies rooted in self-awareness and confidence. My approach goes beyond résumés, using tools like IKIGAI and narrative coaching to help clients align their goals with their values. Helping others discover their own "hidden wholeness" has helped me find mine too.

Scholarship Spotlight
  • Assessed the existing scholarship application process to identify systemic barriers
  • Drafted an initial plan to transition the program from paper-based to digital applications
  • Started stakeholder interviews with past applicants and committee members to inform improvements

For my final project, I created a mixed-media art installation that visually and audibly traces my leadership journey from childhood to the present. Inspired by Jackson Pollock and my visit to the Cleveland Museum of Art, I adopted the concept of "action painting" to explore the coexistence of chaos and structure in leadership. I repurposed thrifted artwork, used house paint from my own collection, and painted under the 100-year-old oak tree in my yard, creating a personal, symbolic space of reflection. I also curated playlists tied to four life chapters, using music to deepen the emotional layers of the piece and represent the leader I’ve become. By integrating art and storytelling, I created something that feels deeply mine and reaffirmed that leadership is not a straight line, but a layered, evolving canvas.

Scholarship Spotlight
  • Conducted outreach to 22 Junior League scholarship programs to gather comparative data and identify best practices
  • Facilitated collaborative design discussions with committee members to inform program improvements
  • Created a comprehensive branding document to guide the scholarship program’s identity, messaging, and outreach strategy

Communication & Leadership Ethics

This paper examines how experiencing pregnancy discrimination became a turning point in my leadership journey. After being repeatedly overlooked in interviews while visibly pregnant, I recognized the broader systemic bias at play. Rather than stay silent, I founded North Coast Careers (NCC)—a career coaching company designed to support those navigating inequity in the workplace. Grounded in moral imagination, pluralism, and ethical frameworks like the Potter Box, NCC represents my commitment to equity, advocacy, and action. Ethically, this journey has taught me two things: the importance of advocacy and the need to create equitable opportunities.

Scholarship Spotlight
  • Hosted an Information Night to introduce the scholarship program to over 120 community partners, schools, and local organizations.
  • Provided an overview of eligibility criteria, application timelines, and the impact of the scholarship on past recipients.

The Everest simulation showed that successful leadership relies more on teamwork than individual effort. Climbers may be driven by personal goals, but they only reach the summit by listening, adapting, and supporting one another.
This reflects my own leadership path. As a mom, entrepreneur, and student, I have learned that real progress happens through collaboration. Leadership means staying aware, building trust, and helping the entire team move forward together.

Scholarship Spotlight
  • Launched Implicit Bias Training for Judges
  • This initiative was designed to foster a more equitable and reflective evaluation process, ensuring that each applicant was reviewed through a lens of fairness, awareness, and inclusion.

An Introduction to the Gouda Life was an interactive workshop designed to teach participants how to build a balanced and beautiful charcuterie board using the simple formula. Alongside Amanda and Mary, I led this session with a blend of food education, fun icebreakers, and hands-on DIT (Do-It-Together) activities. Each team member covered one flavor category, and participants walked away with a digital board, a planning worksheet, and a shopping list to recreate the experience at home. It reminded me that leadership doesn’t always come from big stages or bold strategies; sometimes, it shows up in small, joyful moments that connect and empower... with cheese in hand.

Scholarship Spotlight
  • Revamped website copy to ensure messaging was clear, inclusive, and aligned with the program’s mission and voice.
  • Began rewriting training materials, making them more accessible, consistent, and easy to follow for future volunteers.

Leadership & Human Potential

This project came to life in real time. As the Junior League of Cleveland’s Scholarship Program approached its next cycle, I was up against a tight deadline to improve our rubric and judging process. What began as a logistical challenge quickly became a chance to create lasting, structural change. Through this course, I realized I could move beyond quick fixes and use the Appreciative Inquiry 4-D Cycle to build something more meaningful. I engaged past judges, co-created training, and established a feedback loop to ensure the process is fair, inclusive, and aligned with our mission. Working under pressure taught me how to lead with both urgency and intention. I became more collaborative, systems-minded, and equity-driven.

Scholarship Spotlight
  • Applied the AI 4-D Cycle to reimagine the the rubric and judging process.
  • Collaborated with past judges to co-create new training materials and establish a continuous feedback loop

ORGL 520: Negotiation and Conflict Resolution

In this paper, I compared the 1983 Arizona Copper Miners’ Strike with today’s Return-To-Office (RTO) mandates to explore how labor conflicts reflect deeper issues of identity, dignity, and power. Both cases reveal the harm caused when leadership imposes control without trust or dialogue. While the miners fought through unionized resistance, today’s workers push back through quiet attrition. Whether confronting RTO tensions or leading through a digital-first era, I've realized that real leadership means creating space for dialogue, honoring lived experiences, and embracing ambiguity with curiosity rather than fear.

Scholarship Spotlight
  • Developed Google Forms surveys tailored for applicants to gather feedback on the clarity, accessibility, and overall experience of the application process.
  • Created a dedicated survey for recipients to reflect on the awards process, the ceremony, and the support they received throughout the program.
  • Designed a separate feedback form for judges to capture insights on the rubric, training materials, and evaluation workflow.
